MCA is Dead, Here is the Video for Intergalactic

Posted by on May 4th, 2012

As you might have heard Adam Yauch died today, a victim of cancer. He was 47 and is survived by his wife and child.

Arguably the best of the Beastie Boys deep videography, Intergalactic is easily the most Weird Things of the bunch. Godzilla-inspired war between robot and sea creature gives way to Japanese subway rapping.

RIP MCA.

Thanks for posting.  I have found childhood memories from middle school of rappin Paul Revere with my friends during recess. Alex Navarro said it best. “I don’t know if I want to live in a world where a Beastie Boy can die.”

I always loved Paul’s Boutique, largely because it sounded so unique and peculiar in the late 80’s. Like Steven, my friends and I would perform the entire album for ourselves in the back of the bus.

But among all the songs, MCA’s “A Year and a Day” stuck out to me as singular among all the other songs on that singular album. It’s strange now looking at this one line from the beginning of the song:

“And my body and soul and mind are pure
Not polluted or diluted or damaged beyond cure”

    Damn…
