Hilarious Video North Korea Used to Covered Up Their Last Massive Launch Failure
Posted by Justin on April 12th, 2012As you may have heard, North Korea tried to launch a long-range rocket today and the results were not so hot.
But while the truth of what happened is being reported world wide, the question remains, how will North Korea’s famously stringent state-run broadcasters break the bad news to the locals?
Short answer: they won’t.
What you see above is footage broadcast by North Korean state television in 2009 depicting the fate of a rocket launch. The problem? In reality, it was a total failure according to Washington Post East Asia correspondent Chico Harlan on Twitter.
That didn’t stop the DRPK from getting their CGI on and creating this gem to show all the boys and girls back home that Glorious Leader had lead them to the stars. Strike up the band.

I could snicker at the whole North Korea launch thing, but you know. Launching stuff into space is actually kind of hard. Even the Russians who have forgotten more about Rocketry than most other countries have ever known about it, has massive failures. The snickering will at be propaganda that says no it was successful, here look!

It’s not that the fact that the launch was a failure. That is very hard. They don’t call them rocket scientists for nothing. What’s sad/funny is the complete media distortion by the DRPK. It truly is 1984.

I wonder if the Korean people have conspiracy theorists asking where the cameras for the flybys were mounted.

As a compulsive liar, I can tell right away that this is one of those lies that seemed like a really good idea at the time. What’s going to be their excuse 10 years from now, when the people want better satellite powered state TV and weather satellites and stuff. “Sorry guys, Glorious Leader was too busy working on our lunar bases. SUCK ON THAT, CAPITALIST SWINE!”

Watching this, I half-expect a shot of the bridge being stormed by Sterling Archer.
