In 1997, a group of six people headed to Luban in the Leningradsky region, where the ruins of Makaryevsky monastery destroyed during the war rest amidst the swamps. Nearing the ruins, the group noticed bonfire flames. They were shocked to find out that the bonfire was hanging right in the air. As soon as they approached the ruins, the bonfire disappeared.

This would seem like a warning to any rational person…

“We excavated the bodies of six Russian and 11 German soldiers, four of which were Wehrmacht soldiers in a swamp trench shelter. We cut the logs and discovered decomposed German boots with bones sticking out. Then we began a more careful excavation, and found pelvic bones, a spine, and ribs. Little by little we dug out remnants of four people. It was getting dark. We left the skeletons at the trench and camped out on a meadow about 200 yards away.

This lead to more strange occurrences including hearing German music and laughter and finding fresh tank treads in the morning.

We have no idea what they were thinking. Digging up Nazi graves only equals one thing: Zombie Nazis. That’s a proven fact.

Below are descriptions of three grotesque monsters. Two of them are merely the fictional creations of popular artists; one is a creature that has actually been reported. Can you Find the Fiend?

a.) These giant, people-eating insects have evolved the ability to take the shape of humans in order to camouflage themselves for maximal covert stalking.

b.) Boasting the legs of a goat and the head and torso of a man, this seven-foot tall abomination is known for wielding a double-edged axe and ambushing amorously engaged couples.

c.) This vicious human/shark hybrid that hunts humans and animals along the Atlantic coast is supposedly the end result of a gene-splicing experiment conducted by the Nazis.

ANSWER AFTER THE JUMPThe correct answer is b.

First reported in the ‘70s by a frightened couple who claimed the creature had rudely interrupted their lovemaking by jumping on the hood of their car and threatening them with an axe, the Maryland Goatman has gone on to become an enduring local legend. This puckish, forest-dwelling miscreant is most commonly accused of causing coitus interruptus via medieval weaponry, and killing local pets.

Statement a. described the mutant roaches from Guillermo Del Toro’s failed American debut “Mimic,” which Dimension pictures subjected to so much on-set meddling and devastating script edits that Del Toro vowed to never make another film in the U.S. Fortunately, homeboy couldn’t resist a vampire movie, and, after finishing his brilliant and heart-wrenching independent feature “The Devil’s Backbone,” returned to Hollywood to make “Blade 2.”

Statement c. described the titular atrocity from “White Shark,” Peter Benchley’s critically panned follow-up to his giant shark tome, “Jaws,” and his giant octopus tome, “Beast.” Rent the TV miniseries, entitled “Creature,” if you want to see Craig T. Nelson forced to battle the terrifying mutation after falling for its clever “candygram” ruse.

This aerial photograph, taken above a forest in Brandenburg, Germany could be the first evidence we have that Hitler and his chronies were just the first wave in a coming Nazi alien invasion….or it could just be a long forgotten Swastika symbol created by plain old terrestrial Nazis in the thirties. Legend has it that in 1937 either nervous locals created it to prove their loyalty, or that local Hitler Youth did it as a birthday present for Uncle Adolf.

Either way, the thing is pretty ingenious. The massive swastika is made up of 100 Larch Trees and is only visible when the Larch Trees start to change color during fall, starkly contrasting against pine green. The clever, temporary effect helped it remain forgotten and unnoticed through the falls of both Nazism and Communism (it doesn’t hurt that it can only be seen from the air either).

In 1992, a plane taking pictures of state land snapped a shot of the roughly 60 foot swastika. The photos of the symbol caused quite a stir in the German press and lead the Brandenburg local government to remove just under half of the Larch trees in 1995, in an attempt to obscure the symbol while preserving as much nature as possible. They didn’t want the patch of trees to become a hot spot for Nazis frolicking in the woods. As you can see from the photo above (taken in November, 2000), they didn’t obscure it enough. A second tree removal attempt in December of 2000 finally ruined the swastika for good.

-If you are more fascinated by hidden swastikas than by hidden mickeys check out this Herald Tribune Article about another massive swastika in Tash-Bashat, Kyrgyzstan
